Applications
are invited from suitably qualified candidates for admission into any of the
under listed programmes in the School of Part Time Studies (SPTS) of the
Polytechnic. The Part Time programme is designed for mature candidates
who are also gainfully employed.

GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) PROGRAMMES

or WAEC or GCE O’Level or NECO with at least 5 credits, which must
include: English Language, Mathematics and three subjects from the
following: Economics, Business Methods, Accounts, Commerce, Statistics,
Geography, Government, and one Science subject OR:
NABTEB:
With at least 5 credits which must include: Mathematics & English and any
three from the following: Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Biology, Economics
and Social Studies.
(v) ND HOTEL & CATERING MANAGEMENT
SSCE or WASC or GCE O’level or NECO with at least 4 credits which must
include: Biology/Agricultural Science and any three of the following: Physics,
Chemistry, Mathematics/Statistics, Economics, Food and Nutrition/Home
Management, Health Science, Geography, English Language.
At
least a pass in English Language and Mathematics are compulsory. OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include Biology, Food & Nutrition and
Basic Cookery and any one from the following: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics,
Economics, Basic Electronics, English and Home Management.
At
least a Pass in English Language is compulsory.
(vi)
ND SCIENCE LABORATORY TECHNOLOGY
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’level or NECO with at least 4 credits which must include:
Mathematics and two subjects from Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science or
Chemistry, and one other subject from Technical Drawing, Metal and Wood-Work,
Geography, Further Mathematics, Art, Physics, Biology, Agricultural Science,
Chemistry and English Language.
At
least a Pass in each of the three basic sciences i.e. Biology, Chemistry,
Physics is required. A Pass grade in English Language is also compulsory.
(vii)
ND BUILDING TECHNOLOGY
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’level or NECO with at least 4 credits which must include:
Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry and any two of the following: Economics,
Technical Drawing/Fine Art, Chemistry, Geography, Wood-Work, Biology, English
Language and Building Construction.
At
least a pass in English Language is compulsory while a pass in Fine Art or
Technical Drawing will be an advantage. OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits, which must include: Mathematics, Physics/Chemistry and
General Woodwork, and any one from the following: Economics, Biology and
English Language.
At
least a Pass in English Language is compulsory.
(viii)
ND MASS COMMUNICATION
SSCE or WASC O’level or NECO with at least 5 credits, which must include:
English Language, and any other three from the following: History,
Literature-in-English, Fine Art, Economics, Government, a Nigerian
Language/French, Geography and any Science subject.
A
pass in Mathematics is compulsory. Passes in Physics or Electronics/Basic
Electricity will be an advantage.

ND SECRETARIAL STUDIES
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’level or NECO with at least 4 credits, which must include:
English Language, and any three from the following: Business Methods, Commerce,
Economics, Typewriting, Shorthand, Principles of Accounts, Mathematics,
History, Statistics, Literature-in-English, Government, Geography, Health
Science, CRK/Islamic Studies, and any one science subject.
At
least a pass in Mathematics is compulsory. OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include English, Shorthand and Typing and
any one from the following: Principles of Accounts, Commerce, Biology,
Economics or Social Studies.
(x)
ND ESTATE MANAGEMENT
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’level or NECO with at least 4 credits which must include
Mathematics, English Language and at least a basic Science subject, and any one
of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Physics, Geography,
Economics, Technical Drawing, Wood-Work, Literature-in-English, Principles of
Accounts or Metal Work. OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include English, Mathematics and one basic
science from Physics, Biology and Chemistry, and any one from the following:
General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Economics, Building Engineering Drawing,
and Principles of Accounts.
(xi)
ND COMPUTER SCIENCE
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’level or NECO with at least 4 credits which must include
Mathematics and a basic science, then any three of the following: Economics,
English, Geography, Chemistry, Additional Mathematics, Physics, Statistics,
Biology, Agricultural Science.
Candidates
are expected to have at least a pass in English Language and Physics. OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include Mathematics, Physics and Basic
Electronics any one from the following: Biology, Chemistry.
At
least a pass in English is compulsory.

ND CHEMICAL ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’level or NECO with at least a pass in English Language and 4
credits, which must include: Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, and one subject
from any of the following: Technical Drawing, Biology, Agricultural Science,
Additional Mathematics, Statistics, Basic Electronics, Metal Work, Wood Work,
Fine Art, English Language, Geography and Economics. OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include: Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry
and one from the following: General Woodwork, General Metal Work, Basic
Electronics, Biology, Building Engineering/Drawing.
At

credit or pass grades in anyone of the following: Technical Drawing,
Basic Electricity, Auto Mechanics, Metal Work, Wood-Work (for Civil Engineering
Technology) and Fine Art will be an added advantage. OR

(ND Civil Engineering Technology): With at least 4 credits which must include Mathematics, Physics and Building Engineering/Drawing, then any one from the following:
Chemistry, Biology, General Woodwork, General Metal work. At least a pass
in English Language is compulsory.

(ND Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology):
With at least 4 credits which must include Mathematics, Physics and Basic
Electronics, then any one from the following: Chemistry, Biology, General
Metal Work, Building/Engineering Drawing. At least a pass in English
Language is compulsory.

(ND Mechanical Engineering Technology): With at least 4 credits which must include Mathematics, Physics and General Metal Work, then any one from the following: Chemistry, Biology,
General Woodwork, Basic Electronics, Building/Engineering Drawing.

MATURE CANDIDATES
Candidates
with lower qualifications than the ones stated above but with at least two
relevant credits and two (2) passes could be considered for admission provided
such candidates are above the age of 40 years and have a minimum of 15 years
work experience.

E.
GENERAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR HND PROGRAMMES
Applications for HND programmes indicated above must:
(a)
Satisfy
entry requirements into the relevant National Diploma Programmes.
(b)
Pass at
not below Lower Credit level in the relevant National Diploma Programmes
with two years post-ND industrial work experience.
(i)
HND HOTEL AND CATERING MANAGEMENT
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’Level or NECO with at least a pass in English Language,
Mathematics and 4 credits which must include: Biology/Agricultural Science and
any three of the following: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Statistics,
Economics, Food and Nutrition/Home Management, Health Science and
Geography. In addition, a pass not below Lower Credit in Hotel and Catering
Management at ND level is required.
OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include Biology, Food & Nutrition and
Basic Cookery, and any one from the following: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics,
Economics, Basic Electronics, English and Home Management. At least a pass
in English is Compulsory.
(ii)
HND FOOD SCIENCE TECHNOLOGY
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’Level or NECO with at least 4 credits which must include
Chemistry and one subject from Biology and Agricultural science and any two of
the following: Geography, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics, Physics, English
Language, Biology, Agricultural Science, Additional/Further Mathematics.
In addition, a pass not below Lower Credit in Food Technology at
ND Level is required.
At
least ordinary Passes in Physics, English Language and Mathematics are
compulsory.
(iii)
HND COMPUTER SCIENCE
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’Level or NECO with at least 4 credits which must include
Mathematics, a basic science subject and any three of the following: Biology,
Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Physics, Geography, Economics, Statistics,
Additional Mathematics, English Language.
At
least a pass in English Language and Physics are compulsory. In addition,
a pass not below Lower Credit in Computer Science at ND level is
required.
OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include Mathematics, Physics and Basic
Electronics, then any one from the following: Biology and Chemistry.
At
least a pass in English is compulsory and a pass not below Lower Credit in
Computer Science at ND level is required.
(iv)
HND BUILDING TECHNOLOGY
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’Level or NECO with at least 4 credits which must include:
Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry and any two of the following: Economics,
Technical Drawing/Fine Art, Chemistry, Geography, Wood-Work, Biology, English
Language, Building Construction. A pass in English Language is required,
while a pass in Art or Technical Drawing will be an advantage. In
addition, a pass not below Lower Credit in Building Technology at ND level is
also required. OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include Mathematics Physics/Chemistry and
General Woodwork, and any one from the following: Economics, Biology and
English.
At
least a pass in English is compulsory. A pass not below Lower Credit in
Building Technology at ND level is also required.
(vi)
HND ESTATE MANAGEMENT
SSCE
or WASC or GCE O’Level or NECO with at least 4 credits which include
Mathematics, English Language, at least a basic Science subject, and any of the
following: Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Physics, Geography,
Economics, Technical Drawing, Woodwork, Literature-in-English, Principles of
Accounts or Metal-Work. In addition, a pass not below Lower Credit in Estate
Management at ND level is required. OR
NABTEB:
With at least 4 credits which must include English, Mathematics and one basic
science from (Physics, Biology and Chemistry) then any one from the following:
General Woodwork, General Metal work, Economics, Building
Engineering/Engineering Drawing, Principles of Accounts.
A
pass not below Lower Credit in Estate Management at ND level is required.
